What is a virtual school and is it right for me? Our virtual school provides flexible, learner-centered instruction to students who experience barriers of time and place with traditional course offerings. It uses various forms of technology, including computers and the Internet to bring the course content, instructors and students together. Only you can decide if our virtual school is right for you or your child. Students who are successful in our virtual school are highly motivated and possess above average time management skills. When can I register for classes? Pinnacle Virtual High School has an open enrollment process. You can sign up any time! To register for the Virtual High School, click on the Enroll Now button at the left. After completing the online enrollment form, you must fax or mail a copy of your photo ID, transcript, immunization records and the withdrawal form from your previous school to complete your enrollment. Please allow at least 3 business days for processing. If you have any questions about the status of your enrollment, please send an e-mail to enrollment@pin-ed.com How does an online course work? Do I work at my own pace? State-certified instructors guide Virtual High School students through their courses. At any hour of the day, active students open the http://www.pin-ed.com website, log into the class, receive instruction, take quizzes and exams, and submit work to be graded. Teachers evaluate student work and send back grades and comments. Many students report having more contact with their online instructor than they experience in a traditional school setting. How long will I have to complete a course? Students have 42 days to complete their course. How many courses can I sign up for at once? Students are concurrently enrolled in up to two classes at once. How do I know if I am eligible for this program? According to the Arizona Revised Statutes, all students are not eligible to participate in a distance education instructional program. In order to participate in the Pinnacle Virtual High School, students must meet specific eligibility criteria and parents must agree to verify and submit documentation supporting the time spent by the student on academic tasks. When a grade has been issued for your completed course an official transcript will be mailed to your home school. How can I find out what courses are available at the Virtual High School? Contact your instructor by email. Instructions for doing so are given in each course syllabus. What if my login and/or username are not working? Contact your academic advisor, or if you have not been assigned an advisor yet send an e-mail to enrollment@pin-ed.com . Who do I contact if I have technical problems with my online courses? Contact your academic advisor, or send an e-mail to enrollment@pin-ed.com. Please include your name, grade, and the class with which you are experiencing technical difficulties with. I am an AOL user. What adjustments will I need to make for the virtual school? You may need to adjust your AOL settings before registering and taking our virtual school courses. All parental controls must be set to 18 and over for all users and functions on your machine. After you connect to the Internet, minimize the AOL window before launching Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher to access our site. The AOL browser will not work. How can I tell what browser I have on my computer and what version it is? To check the browser version, select HELP at the top of your browser and scroll down to ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER or ABOUT NETSCAPE. Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher works best. America Online Web Browser is not recommended What additional software do I need? In order to view all of our multimedia products, please make sure you have the latest drivers installed on your computer.
